Abstract

BIOSTRATIGRAPHY OF THE MIDDLE MIOCENE DEPOSITS IN THE BOREHOLE TROJANOWICE 2 SECTION BASED ON CALCAREOUS NANNOPLANKTON INVESTIGATIONS

Abstract. The aim of the study was to recognize the Middle Miocene sediments in Trojanowice 2 profile, basing on calcareous nannoplankton investigations. The long-ranging, belonging to the Coccolithaceae (Coccolithus pelagicus) and Prinsiaceae (small reticulofenestrids, R. pseudoumbilica) families were dominated. Helicosphaeraceae (small helicosphaerids, H. kamptneri), Sphenolithaceae and Discoasteraceae important for stratigraphic conclusions occurred less frequently. Based on the co-occurrence of Sphenolithus heteromorphus, Sphenolithus abies, Helicosphaera walbersdorfensis, Discoaster exilis, Calcidiscus macintyrei, Cyclicargolithus floridanus, Reticulofenestra pseudoumbilica, Umbilicosphaera rotula, as well as small forms belonging to Reticulofenestra and Helicosphaera species, the studied sediments are included into NN5 and NN6 calcareous nannoplankton zones sensu Martini.
