Abstract


A SOLUTION FOR WATER INFLOW TO A WELL IN CONDITIONS OF SEEPAGE SURFACE AND LIFTING WATER WITH A WELL-CASING PIPE

The article presents a solution for steady-state water in flow to an incomplete well located in a homogeneous and orthotropic unconfined water table aquifer. The calculations take account of the surface of seepage in the well and a possibility of lifting water with a well-casing pipe. The aquifer has a horizontal bottom and can be recharged with in filtration waters. The solution was produced in the form of a programme written in Excel spreadsheet with a use of the finite difference method. It is based on Laplace groundwater flow equation in the logarithmic-cylindrical coordinate system. The program enables the calculation of water in flow to a well, the height of seepage face, the size of the depression cone, and it generates graphs of water table position as a function of distance from the well. The preliminary tests demonstrate the consistence of the results obtained by means of the discussed programme with results described in literature.
