Abstract

DISTRIBUTION OF ORE MINERALS IN THE COPPER DEPOSIT, FORE-SUDETIC MONOCLINE, SW POLAND

Abstract. Distribution of ore minerals within the Lubin-Sieroszowice copper deposit is discussed. Vertical distribution depends on localization of the profile and position of the ore-body relative to the Zechstein sedimentary sequence, however, there is no relationship observed between type of sediments and ore minerals. The concentration of sulphides depends on the position in the vertical profile. Typical profile is characterized by the chalcocite group of sulphides in the lower and middle part of the section. Bornite, chalcopyrite, galena, pyrite and sphalerite successively prevail above. Towards the bottom of the section chalcocite group of minerals predominate, except the section with red spots. In the such a case bornite and chalcopyrite are often observed. Several exceptions from the typical vertical zonation have been found e.g. chalcocite rich sections related to the anhydrite cemented sandstone (Rudna mine) and secondary oxidized sections containing economic grade of noble metals. Lateral distribution of ore minerals was only discussed for the Kupferschiefer horizon.
