SELECTED GEOLOGICAL FEATURES AND TECHNOLOGICAL QUALITY OF THE KOŹMIN LIGNITE (KWB ADAMÓW)Abstract. The Koźmin - Pole Centralne lignite deposit, which is being currently under preparation for production, is situated in the Polish Lowlands, in the northeastern part of the Mogilno-Łódź Synclinorium. The lignite deposit belongs to the I Middle Polish lignite bundle. The research involved studies in around 300 boreholes. Geological structure of the seam is mostly regular. Its thickness varies from 0.2 m in the eastern part, up to 13 m in the west. The Koźmin lignite is of highest technological quality. Its average total moisture content is 51%; ash content recalculated to dry basis is 11.5%. Its average caloric value is 9330 KJ/kg, average content of total sulphur recalculated to dry basis is 0.42%, categorizing it as low-sulphur lignite. According to the international standards (ECE-UN 2003), the lignite code from the Koźmin deposit is as follows: Meta-Lignite (huminic low B) 25 51 23 04, and in the Polish classification it is Soft Brown Coal 21.2 N-9.0/14 PN-81/G-97051.01.Downloads
