A NEED TO INTEGRATE GEOMECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF ROCKS - A GEOMECHANICAL DATABASE

Abstract. This paper describes the concept of systematized and unified data acquisition and processing based on Object-Relative database. In Poland, the existing rich documentation of geomechanical properties of rocks has not been integrated and unified, making categorization and identification impossible. The database should be useful for inventory of properties of rocks and rock massifs in lithological and regional meaning, and should be able to cooperate with external geoinformation server. The presented system is based on the statement that geospatial objects, e.g. exposures, boreholes, excavations or historic stone monuments, have simple attributes like geographic coordinates according to GIS assumptions. In this way the possibility of integration with geological and economic maps or land development plans is obtainable. The implemented conceptual model of object, developed in accordance with geoinformation standards, defines elements and attributes of information contained in the database and their interrelation. The UML language is used to define the model. The model concerns laboratory and field data obtained according to the PN-EN ISO 14689-1 standard designed for creation of geological system foundations.
