Abstract

AGGRESSIVENESS OF SURFACE AND GROUND WATER OF THE BIA£Y STREAM BASIN (WEST TATRA MTS.)Abstract. Aggressiveness is the property of water, which causes destruction of rocks. The aggressiveness is also one of the major factors controlling the Earth surface and chemical composition of water. The paper presents the results of estimation of aggressiveness of precipitation, surface and ground waters. The study area (Biały Stream Basin) is composed mainly of carbonates. The amount of aggressiveness was estimated using the hardness of water, Langelier Saturation Index and SI values calculated by PHREEQC.
