Abstract

EVALUATION OF THE HYDROGEOCHEMICAL INTERACTION OF GROUNDWATER FROM THE BRWINÓW BURIED VALLEY AND THE MAZOVIAN BASIN, BASED ON THE CHEMICAL REACTION-PATH MODELLING METHODAbstract. The results of hydrodynamic, hydrogeochemical and isotopic researches performed between 2004 and 2007 show that groundwater from the Quaternary series recharges the Oligocene aquifer of the Mazovian Basin in the southern part of the Brwinów Buried Valley. The groundwater ascent flow is possible in the northern part of this structure. Thanks to this discovery and geochemical modelling studies, the detailed proportions of the groundwater’s mixture have been evaluated in this area. Two solutions mix together in the following proportions: an average of 60–80 percent of groundwater comes from the Mazovian Basin and 40–20 percent originates from the Quaternary Buried Valley. It determines the very unique chemical composition of groundwater in the northern part of the structure.
