Abstract

PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF WATER SAMPLING IN GROUNDWATER MONITORINGAbstract. The crucial element of groundwater monitoring is the properly carried out groundwater sampling, which includes not only the stage of collecting samples, but also all activities related to samples preservation, storage, transport to the laboratory and also field measurements of unstable indicators. In view of variability of possible situations, the actual field exploration may diverge from shown in literature schemes. Making use of multi-year experience, the authors present the practical aspects of groundwater sampling, giving the examples of concrete organise-technical solutions. The basic norms and guides concerning sampling were detailed. The potential dangers related to work in the field were discussed. Multiple techniques of sampling, considering sampling site type, were presented. There were characterised the most common in groundwater monitoring types of containers and preservatives and also basic measurements of unstable physic-chemical parameters performed in situ.
