Abstract

FACTOR ANALYSIS APPLICATION TO IDENTIFICATION OF PROCESSES FORMING SHALLOW GROUNDWATER CHEMISTRY IN THE AGRICULTURAL AREASAbstract. The article presents the results of a factor analysis which was used for identification of processes forming groundwater chemistry in a shallow aquifer. The analysis was done in two variants and three groups of data were taking into account: groundwater chemistry, hydrogeological conditions and a type of land use. In each variant five factors were identified as hydrogeochemical processes. In each factor dependence of at least one from chemical components with hydrogeological conditions or type of land use has occurred, which allowed for interpretation of the factor as a hydrogeochemical process. The same three factors were extracted in both variants (F1, F2, F5). The most intensive factor (F1) was identified as nitrate leaching from soils on arable fields and grasslands. It was stronger than factor identified as forming groundwater chemistry by precipitation water (F2). Factor (F5) was interpreted as migration of domestic pollutions to groundwater from village areas.
