Abstract

ESTIMATION OF HABITAT CONDITIONS IN THE SPRING NICHES IN OJCÓW NATIONAL PARK AND ITS PROTECTION ZONE WITH A USE OF PHYTOINDICATION METHOD

Abstract. The paper presents problem from the field of hydro-geo-ecology. It shows the results of phytoindicational investigations of the habitat conditions of selected spring niches in Ojców National Park and its protection zone. These niches are located in the Prądnik and Sąspówka river valleys which are drainage zone of intermediate and local groundwater flow systems of the Upper Jurassic carbonate rocks.
In the years 2009–2010 hydrological mapping and phytosociological relevés (according to Braun-Blanquet methodology) of 21 spring niches were done. Basing on these investigations values of ecological indicators after Zarzycki were calculated: T – temperature,W– moisture, Tr – trophy, R – acidity (pH), H – organic matter content, L – light. T values correspond to microclimate from cold to moderately warm one. They
indicate interdependence with spring exposure and thermal conditions of the water. W values correspond to intermediate habitats between fresh and moist ones. They are connected with depth of occurrence of the first aquifer. Tr values indicate the abundance of mainly nitrogen in water and soil what is confirmed by higher concentration of NO3 in water. R values correspond to a habitat with neutral reaction (pH), typical of water circulating in the environment of carbonate rocks. H values are characteristic to soils from mineral-humus type to organogenic ones and they show relationship with Eh values in the water. Making up hydrogeological investigations with phytoindication ones will widen range of recognition of the Jurassic hydrogeological environment.
