Abstract

HYDROGEOLOGY IN A DAYS OF INSPIRE

Abstract. Works on European Spatial Data Infrastructure (ESDI) are now encroaching on the crucial phase. INSPIRE working teams prepare Data Specifications for Annex II and III. There are the important issues for geologists and hydrogeologists. The records contained in data specifications are intended to prepare basic model of geological and hydrogeological data. This model will be mandatory for all EU Member States. Instead of undoubted benefits for users arising out of access to spatial data resources, also the commitments that will face the community of geologists and hydrogeologists can not be ignored. First of all, the responsibility for delivered data quality and transform data sets into the rules presented in INSPIRE directive as well as in act of Spatial Data Infrastructure are required. This paper attempt to evaluate preparation of hydrogeological community to meet the both technological and qualitative INSPIRE requirements.
