Abstract

HYDROGEOLOGICAL CONDITIONS IN SALT DOME AREAS AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE FOR THE SAFETY OF ECONOMIC EXPLOITATION OF SALT STRUCTURES

Abstract. The paper presents the results of hydrogeological investigations of five salts domes in the Kujawy region. The salt domes are situated in active groundwater exchange zones and they affect the surrounding environment. This influence includes the effect of brines flowing from the salt mirror zone, and the effect of water of lower mineralization flowing from the upper parts of the caprock. The investigations were the basis for determination of water risks related to salt extraction and media storage, as well as for creating the rules of recognition and monitoring of hydrogeological conditions.
