Abstract

HYDROGEOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF GRODZIEC COAL MINE FLOODINGAbstract. The paper presents the problems of liquidation and flooding of the Grodziec coal mine, northeastern part of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin. The Grodziec area is one of the fields of the Central Department of Mine Dewatering (CZOK). Its main task is to protect working coal mines against water hazard. The necessity of keeping the groundwater level under connections between abandoned and working coal mines is required in the Polish geological and mining law. Mine liquidation and its flooding are difficult and long-lasting processes causing changes of hydrogeological, geological and mining conditions.
