Abstract

APPLICATION OF A NUMERICAL MODEL FOR CALCULATING CHEMICAL DENUDATION RATES IN THE BIAŁY STREAM DRAINAGE BASIN (WEST TATRA MTS.)Abstract. Chemical denudation is understood as a set of processes leading to the removal of rock mass from land areas in water solution. The knowledge of these processes is necessary to recognise the geochemical cycles operating within a given area. Denudation is also one of the major factors controlling the Earth surface. The paper presents the application of a new method of quantitative evaluation of chemical denudation using an equilibrium geochemical model. The model involves the whole of the processes that operate within the aquifer, among others different solubilities and densities of individual minerals and the contribution of carbon dioxide to carbonate solubility.
