Abstract

APPLICATION OF THE CONSTANT VOLUME TRANSFORMATION TO THE ASSESSMENT OF THE GROUNDWATER RESOURCES RENEWABILITY IN THE EASTERN PART OF THE POMERANIAN LAKE DISTRICTAbstract. The paper presents the constant volume transformation algorithm allowing to calculate the distribution of the long term mean groundwater recharge which generates the groundwater runoff with the known long term mean value. The algorithm is based on the assumption of the equality between this recharge and this groundwater runoff for the given budget area. In this case study the recharge is governed by the distribution of the surface lithology and long term mean precipitation both having the status of weight functions. The outcome of the calculations is the distribution of the recharge in the eastern part of the Pomeranian Lake District in Poland. Within the boundaries of each of the 17 budget areas the total value of the recharge is equal to the groundwater runoff value assessed prior to the calculations.
