Abstract

INFLUENCE OF LENIWA OBRA RIVER VALLEY RESTORATION ON WATER ENVIRONMENT ACCORDING TO NUMERICAL MODELLINGAbstract. The study area is located in western Poland, in the valley of the Leniwa Obra River, which is a left tributary of the Obrzyca River. This is a typical lowland river, and this meandering river was transformed into a straight channel with a groundwater level lowered by 1-2 m as a result of drainage operations. A numerical model was constructed for the valley and adjacent areas that are groundwater recharge zones. The objective was to reconstruct the current hydrodynamic conditions and then to perform simulations for various alternatives to the proposed restoration. There were only minor changes in the position of the groundwater table of the first aquifer.
