Abstract

TRIASSIC RESERVOIR AS A POTENTIAL SOURCE OF GEOTHERMAL WATER– THE EXAMPLE OF KOMPINA-2 WELL Abstract. The paper presents the possibilites of obtaining geothermal waters from Triassic reservoir in the £owicz area. The geothermal water encountered was brine of Cl–Na, hydrochemical type and TDS reaching 337.1 g/dm3.  The measured reservoir temperature of the brine at depth interval 4130–4165 m was 107°C and its inflow to the borehole was quite small. At depth of 4110–4115 m the free outflow of brine was recorded causing the wellhead pressure of 140 atm. Within the Middle Triassic aquifer (Shellbearing limestone formation) at depth interval 3910–3920 the inflow of brines of TDS 164 g/dm3 and reservoir temperature of 97°C was recorded. The large (up to 22 m3/h) inflows of geothermal brines were also obtained from the Late Triassic aquifer (Keuper/Rhaetian formation). Their reservoir temperature was 94°C and TDS varied from 88 to 150 g/dm3. Taking into account the reservoir temperatures and water discharges the most favorable hydrogeological and reservoir conditions for geothermal water occurrence are connected with the Late and Early Triassic water bearing horizons
