Abstract

THE USE OF NUMERICAL FLOW MODEL FOR EVALUATION OF GEOENGINEERING INVESTMENTS IMPACT ON GROUNDWATER ILLUSTRATED ON THE EXAMPLE OF AN UNDERGROUND PARKING GARAGE IN CENTRAL WARSAWAbstract. The investigations were conducted to establish a flow system, groundwater balance and potential influence within the area of underground parking which is likely to be constructed in the centre of Warsaw along the E. Plater Street between Jerozolimskie Av. and Świętokrzyska Street. The MODFLOW package in configuration of the GMS. 6.0 environment was used to develop a local model of the site. After model calibration for natural conditions, the simulations were done for the projected variants of parking location and its different depths. When simulating the options with the depth of 8 m, it was obvious that there is no influence due to an equal level of pressure between the pit and the aquifer. After the simulations for the depth of 11 m, it was evidenced that the groundwater surface was changed and a seepage process from the bottom began.
