Abstract
Post-Lower-Sarmatian fault in the area of Chełm Lubelski (East Poland)
Field studies have recently disclosed the presence of a conspicuous fault affecting the Lower Sarmatian deposits. The hanging wall of the fault consists of the Upper Cretaceous marls and the footwall of the Lower Sarmatian sands. The dip of the fault surface is 40° and its strike 20°. The significance of the displacement lies in the fact that the fault postdates the Lower Sarmatian and thus represents the youngest unquestionable fault hitherto recorded in the northern part of the Lublin Upland.
