Abstract
Erratic blocks from Handzlówka near Rzeszów
Dział wodny pomiędzy Hussowem a Handzlówką jest jedynym miejscem w pobliżu granicy zlodowacenia w Karpatach zachodnich, gdzie głazy narzutowe zachowały się do chwili obecnej w wysokości 400 m npm. Bardzo małe nachylenie omawianego terenu uniemożliwiało denudację, a tym samym obniżenie pierwotnego położenia głazów. Okolice Handzlówki wyróżniają się dużym zróżnicowaniem materiału eratycznego w porównaniu z innymi punktami brzeżnych Karpat. Brak wtórnego transportu przyczynił się tam m. in. do zachowania mniej odpornych gatunków sikał.
The author describes erratic blocks present on the watershed between Hussów and Handzlówka in Polish Carpathians. This is the sole locality where the erratic blocks are preserved near the soutern limit of the extent of the Scandinavian ice-sheet in the height of 400 m a. s. l. The flatness of the area and the resulting lack of denudation favoured the preservation of the erratic blocks in the primary situation. The assemblage of erratic blocks at Handzlówka is remarkably rich in comparison with other occurrences of erratics in the Northern Carpathians. Owing to the lack of transportation after the recession of the ice-sheet, blocks of rocks showing slight resistance against mechanical abrasion are preserved at Handzlówka.
