ESTIMATION OF STRUCTURAL SENSITIVITY OF LOESS DEPOSITS FOR CONSTRUCTIONS

Summary

The article presents an analysis of magnitude of macroporosity coefficient, made on the results of laboratory examination. The author comes to a conclusion that for the requirements of land constructions made on the loess deposits, the macroporosity coefficient should be determined under an overburen amounting to 2,0 kG/cm2, and not 3,0 kG/cm2 as previously. In addition, the author presents a proposal concerning a quantitative estimation of structural sensitivity of loess deposits and suggests to introduce 6-hour time in laboratory examination, as sufficient for obtaining the total magnitude of macroporosity. Moreover, the author has demonstrated that the presence of macropores does not play greater part in the process of contraction because this latter is influenced mainly by general porosity, humidity and textural-structural character of the ground in study.
