Abstract

A concept of method to identify boundary conditions on the top surface of aquifer systems with the use of satellite remote sensing.
A b s t r a c t. One of the main problems encountered by the creators of the groundwater flow models is the high uncertainty of the data used to construct the input array. The group of information, which is characterized by the uncertainty is the data which describe groundwater recharge. The usage of the traditional methods of estimating groundwater recharge is associated with some serious limitations especially in the analysis of the aquifer systems on a regional scale. A chance to increase the reliability of the input data is the use of satellite remote sensing. This paper presents the concept of a method allowing the estimation of the most important factors which determine groundwater recharge process, such as evapotranspiration, interception, surface and underground retention. The method is based on the analysis of the satellite images in different ranges of the spectrum. The Developed method will undergo a verification process for properly selected research training ground. The Verification tool will be a numerical model of the groundwater flow.
