Abstract

CATIONS IN MINERAL COMPOSITION OF CARBONIFEROUS WATERS IN THE RYBNIK VICINITY

Summary
The results presented in this paper concern the determination of mineral composition of Carboniferous water found to occur in the vicinity of Rybnik, in realation to the chemical elements of the potassium group and calcium group. Particularly there is presented a variation in the content of lithium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, strontium and barium in the mineral composition of waters classified according to three criteria: mineralization degree, mineralization type and occurrence areas. The amount of the chemical elements has been presented in percentages of milliramme equivalents. The water chemism described in the paper shows some determined regularities and characterizes the Carboniferous waters of this region univocally. The percentage of the individual chemical elements in the mineral composition, thought to be a reflex of the geochemical environment, points to a diversified character of the development conditions of the waters considered.
