Abstract

FLUIDS IN THE SALT MINES

Summary
The greatest danger, particularly for the potassium salt mines are the lyes that depending on their origin variously increase the danger degree of a mine. The main criteria for their classification are the chemical composition and the specific weight. Basing on the microscopic study of hewings of the mine workings one may draw many conclusions concerning the safety degree of the mine works, depending on the kind of deposits that may be possible fluid-bearing rock.
During the mine works in th Kłodawa mine, a series of moisture-rich hewings as well as the lye outflows were observed in the bore-holes and fissures of salt rocks. At present, some observations and laboratory investigations are being made to determine the kind and degree of possible danger caused by waters.
