Abstract
PERIODICAL AND ABRUPT CHANGES IN THE VELOCITY OF SEISMIC WAVES
Summary
On the basis of published and unpublished data, as well as authors own interpretation, the possible reasons of periodical and abrupt changes in the velocity of the seismic waves (here called variation of velocity) have been presented. Maximum values of velocity changes caused by: tectonic movements - 5%, tide of the earth crust - 2%, and variations of atmospheric pressure - 0.2% have been determined. Maximum vertical displacement of the earth crust slabs as elastic deformations caused by the tidal waves has been calculated. The mechanism of the velocity changes due to the influence of the earth crust tides has been discussed.
