Abstract

BASIC REGULARITIES OF FORMATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF OIL AND GAS DEPOSITS ON THE EXAMPLE OF YOUNG EPIPALEOZOIC PLATFORMS

Summary
The paper deals with conditions of distribution of hydrocarbon accumulations in Mesozoic series of young platforms. The occurrence of hydrocarbon accumulation sand their zonality are determined by specific character of evolution of oil- and gas-bearing basins, i.e. velocity of subsidence of syngenetic oil- and gas-generating series as well as developments of processes responsible for migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons. It is shown that, in the case of young platforms, the main zone of origin of oil accumulations is situated at depths ranging from 2000 to 4000 m. Taking into account these conditions and the processes leading to formation of hydrocarbon accumulation in young platform areas there are shown possibilities of generation of hydrocarbon sand formation of hydrocarbon deposits in Mesozoic series of the Polish Lowlands. The necessity to continue search for hydrocarbons in parts of the country where Mesozoic rocks are submerged at depths over 2000 m is emphasized.
