Abstract
Allophane and jarosite secretions in the Carpathian flysch
Allophane secretions owing its origin to the circulation of subsurface waters were found in the shales of Hieroglyphic beds (Eocene). The waters were rich in free sulphate ion produced by the decomposition of pyrite. Potassium jarosite secretions that occur in the Istebna shales (Palaeocene) have a similar origin. The jarosite secretions show a substantial admixture of secondary goethite.
