Abstract

The Triassic of the for eland of Central Carpathians The Triassic system occurs in the Foreland of the Carpathian Mts. under a thick cover of Miocene, Cretaceous and Jurassic rocks. The Triassic rocks are developed in 'the Central European (German) facies. Cimmerian and later tectonic movements affected the area and resulted in block-faulting of the Triassic and older rocks. Subsurface data on. the Triassic system were published in many papers (see references) but only a few of these were devoted entirely to problems of the Triassic. A detailed description of the Triassic rooks in the area between Tarnów, Dąbrowa Tarnowska and Szczucin (southern Poland) is given in the présent paper.
