Abstract

The problem of mineralization of fossil wood Autorka stwierdza ma podstawie analiz mikroskopowych szlifów, że struktura zespołów mineralnych w drzewach skamieniałych, a zwłaszcza prawidłowa orientacja osi optycznych kwarcu jest uzależniona od stopnia zachowania tkanki drzewnej i równomierności w rozmieszczeniu substancji organicznej. Autorka nie zgada się z wnioskami J. Sena, że symetria w strukturze zespołów mineralnych jest naśladownictwem pierwotnej symetrii w tkance drzewnej. W procesie krystalizacji minerałów przeważa tendencja do zgodności orientacji optycznej w jaknajwiększe.j ilości ziarn w cewkach sąsiednich i do zmiany struktury tkanki drzewnej na strukturę właściwą skałom krystalicznym. Basing upon microscopic analysis of thin sections the author concludes that the structure of mineral aggregates in fossil wood and especially the preferred optic orientation in quartz grains depend upon the degree of preservation of the plant tissue and upon the uniformity in repartition of the organic matter. The author does not agree with the conclusions of J. Sen that the symmetry in structure of mineral aggregates is inherited from the primary symmetry of the plant tissue. In the crystallization process of minerals prevails a tendency to maintain the same optic orientation in several grains filling up the neighbouring tracheides, and to change the structure of the tissue to that of a crystalline rock.
