Niektóre własności bentonitów i iłów bentonitowych z Chmielnika

Abstract

Some properties of bentonites and bentonitic clays from Chmielnik W związku z poszukiwaniem iłów nadających się do użytku w wiertnictwie przeprowadzono badania iłów bentonitowych i bentonitów z Chmielnika. Iły zwane bentonitowymi składają się głównie z illitu oraz zmiennej ilości montmorylonitu. Bentonity występujące w formie cienkich warstewek są niemal czystym montmorylonitem żelazo-wapniowym. Pojemność wymiany jonowej bentonitów jest niska. W czasie długotrwałego mielenia iłów bentonitowych — prowadzonego w różnych warunkach — ulega dużym zmianom kształt krzywych termicznych, co wskazuje na przechodzenie pierwotnego zespołu minerałów ilastych (głównie illitu) w nowe nie rozpoznane bliżej minerały, zbliżone do grupy minerałów montmorylonitowych. In connection with the prospecting for clays suitable for use in the boring industry the studies on bentonitic clays and bentonites from Chmielnik were made. The clays known as bentonitic ones consist mainly of illite and of variable amount of montmorillonite. The bentonites appearing as thin beds are almost pure ferro-calcareous montmorillonite. The capacity of ionic exchange of the bentonites is low. During prolonged pulverization of the bentonitic clays performed in various conditions the shape of thermal curves varies considerably; this points out to the transition of the primary complex of clayey minerals (mainly illite) into new, as yet not sufficiently known minerals related to the group of montmorillonite.
