Abstract
Hydrogen as the fuel of the future. Challenges for Polish geology.
A b s t r a c t. The issue of using renewable and low-emission hydrogen is topical in the context of reducing the consumption of fossil fuels in Poland in the energy sector, industry and transport, and the transition towards a less environmentally burdensome economy. The article indicates the activities of the government and industry in the field of hydrogen use, and scientific publications in this field. The geological-economic aspects of underground hydrogen storage are presented, the main directions of future scientific activities in this field are outlined, and the tasks facing Polish geology in the context of underground hydrogen storage are presented.
