Abstract

NEW METHODS OF EXAMINING AND AMELIORATING COHESIVE SOILSSummaryThe paper presents basic methods applied in the Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology of Warsaw University in analysing physico-chemical processes active on surfaces of mineral skeleton particles under the influence of waters of different chemistry and of certain chemical compounds. The effects of those factors of hydrophily and texture of soils are discussed. In addition, some conclusions concerning selection of methods of improving soil properties are given.
