Znaczenie zjawisk krasowych dla rekonstrukcji paleogeograficznych i paleotektonicznych

Abstract

IMORTANCE OF KARST PHENOMENA FOR PALEOGEOGRAPHIC AND PALEOTECTONIC RECONSTRUCTIONSSummaryRemarkable importance a! fossil karst for paleogeographic and paleotectonic reconstructions of platform areas is shown. Problems of dating and interpreting fossil karst are discussed. Three mark localities of fossil karst in Poland, i.e., Stare Gliny (MiddIe Triassic) Przeworno (Miocene) and Węże (Pliocene - early Pleistocene) are discussed (Fig. 1). These localities of fossil karst bear rich paleontological material and their importance for testing paleogeographical and paleotectonic hypotheses is discussed. Four phase of karstification in post~Variscan history of sedimentary platform cover of Central Poland are distinguished (Figs. 2-3). These phases divide the platform cover into four principal structural stages.
