Abstract

ANALYSIS OF MEASUREMENTS OF NATURAL STRESSES AND ELASTICITY MODULUSES IN THE SUBSTRATUM OF THE DAM PROJECTED AT NIEDZICA

Summary

The article is a description of the methods of the researches made to examine the natural stresses that appear in the subsoil rocks of the dam projected at Niedzica, as well as to investigate their elasticity and deformation moduluses, as well as the results obtained during the study. The degree of rock massif stresses is relatively low; the natural stresses range from 10 to 90 kG/cm2; their mam direction being N-S. Despite the high lithological differentiation, the static moduluses of the main limestone complex are fairly similar. The average modulus of elasticity in this complex amounts to 41.000 kG/cm2 , whereas the deformation modulus is twofold lower. The brecciated limestones and marls (at the -left bridge-head) are characterized by a relatively high moduluses of elasticity that amount to 80.000 kG/cm2, the deformation moduluses being also twofold lower. The relations between the elasticity moduluses, i.e. dynamic and static moduluses, amount, in power tunnel, to 3.78-- 8.25 (5.6 on the average). The mare cracked the rock massif, the higher the relation here. In addition, the author gives a criticized estimation of the research methods that have for the first time been applied in the country.
