Abstract

POTENTIAL SOUNDINGSSummary. Potential soundings is a method of geoelectrical survey, DC or AC current. A method of deep electrical prospecting is presented where one of the pole of current source is connected with the middle electrode “O” while the second pole is connected with outside electrodes placed symmetrically equidistant to “O”. The sounding is effected by means of equipotential surfaces allowing the direct evaluation of the depth. The advantages are: 1- Sounding curve is shown by equation ρ=f(h) where ρ is the apparent resistivity an h the depth. 2 – Considerable reach in depth by a rather small electrode spacing. 3 – High sensibility of the method on the resistivity contrast. 4 – Possibility of interpretation of many leyer. 5 – High economy.
