Ocena wpływu migracji pestycydów chloroorganicznych z wybranych mogilników, zlokalizowanych w różnych warunkach geologicznych, na zanieczyszczenie osadów i wód podziemnych
Abstract
Assesment of organochlorine pesticides migration from selected disposal sites localized under different geological conditions and its impact on soil and groundwater contamination.A b s t r a c t . The main objective of this work was to assess the environmental impact of disposal sites of obsolete pesticides, called "tombs", and particularly on soils in the aeration and saturation zone and ground water, and defining whether the sites pose a significant risk of contamination of the environment with pesticides. These stockpiles were mainly set up in the 1970s. Observations and testing of soils and ground water in the vicinity of 45 sites scattered across Poland, point to contamination of the environment around all the tested sites located in unfavorable geological conditions, most frequently in sandy deposits with a shallow ground water table. The work shows that the sites are a significant source of environmental contamination, although the reach of pesticide migration in soils may be much greater. The research revealed variations of the pesticide composition in the aeration and saturation zone, caused by other changes of the compounds in question. Different rates in decay of pesticides at the bottom of the sites were also noted in comparison to changes in these compounds in soilsDownloads
