Abstract

Determination of bromate (V) in drinking water by ion chromatography with conductivity detection.
A b s t r a c t.Theuseof ionchromatograph ICS-2500 (Dionex, USA) with suppressed conductivity detection and gradient elution for direct determination of bromate in drinking water in presence of chlorite and chlorate is described. In this method, bromate is separated using Dionex IonPac AS19 separation column along with a Dionex IonPac AG19 guard column and generated KOH eluent. Standard solution with certified bromate content and real samples were used in validation process of the method. The method has been proved to be very useful for routine analysis of drinking water because of low limit of detection (0,002 mg/l), good precision (CV < 10%), correctness (relative error < 15%), satisfactory results of interlaboratory comparisons (relative error ≤ 12,5%) as well as possibilities of carrying out simultaneous determination of other inorganic oxyhalide disinfection by-products.
