Abstract

Professor Ryszard Dadlez – stratigrapher, tectonicist, pioneer of modern methods in the study of regional geology of Poland.
A b s t r a c t. Ryszard Dadlez (1931–2008), Polish Professor of geology, graduated from the University of Warsaw, associated with the Polish Geological Institute in Warsaw throughout his professional life. He was a leading researcher of deep-seated Caledonian, Variscan and younger geologic structures of the Polish Lowlands, a precursor of their interpretation on the basis of lithospheric plate tectonics, and a co-creator of the synthetic model of the development of the Permo-Mesozoic Basin (the Polish Basin). He participated in international geophysical and geological research programs for the contact between the East European Craton and the Paleozoic Platform (TTZ).
