Abstract
Legal regulation limiting prospecting and exploration of mineral deposits.
A b s t r a c t. Rational mineral deposits management should already begin at the prospecting and exploration stage. Properly performed exploration works, which lead to estimation resources of new deposits, not only develop the natural resources base but also give new information about geological structure of a country. Therefore it should be extremely important for the Government to be certain that this kind of activity is performed in an efficient and rational way. Unfortunately, geological and mining law and other regulations connected with exploration industry make it difficult – or even impossible – to operate in that way. The author shows some selected examples in which the existing regulations seem to be excessive and unnecessary. It concerns mainly an issue of planning and conducting geological works.
