Abstract

Professor Tadeusz Wiśniowski – a pioneer in the research of the history of geological sciences in Poland.A b s t r a c t. Tadeusz Wiśniowski (1865–1933), Polish geologist and paleontologist, graduated from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and professor at the Lviv University of Technology. He conducted geological studies of the Flysch Carpathians, especially on the Cretaceous stratigraphy, and micropalaeontological studies of Jurassic deposits in the Kraków Upland. He was the first to undertake systematic broad-scale studies of the history of geological sciences in Poland. Wioeniowski was a respected popularizer of the natural sciences and an author of sometextbooks.
