Abstract

ANALYSIS OF VERTICAL TIMES IN BORE HOLES SITUATED WITHIN THE EASTERN PART OF MARGINAL SYNCLINORIUM

Summary
The author presents an analysis of vertical times measured in 26 bore holes situated in the south-eastern part of the marginal synclinorium and within its peripheral area. A comparison of vertical times has been made on diagrams, from the earth's surface to the bottoms of Jurassic and Cretaceous deposits, as well as to the bottom and the top of Carboniferous. Curves in a time-depth system have been approximated using functions by selecting adequate empirical formulae of T = k * Zn type. Consequently, also a reduction of data has been made down to the bottom of Tertiary deposits. As a result of the analysis, some dependencies have been ascertained that can be applied practically, as proved by a comparison of vertical times received analytically, with those measured directly in bore hole. The results of the analysis permit to construct regional cross sections and velocity maps, if time or depth of boundaries of velocity complexes are known. During interpretation of seismical data, this in turn allows to select velocities more adequately.
