Abstract

ENGINEERING-GEOLOGICAL RESEARCHES IN THE INDIVIDUAL PHASES OF HYDROTECHNICAL PROJECTING Summary An ever increasing demand for water as raw material and energy source forces to intensity water economics of the country. Poland, a country poor in water, is characterized by unequal distribution of water and by a great difference in time of its appearance. The perspective development plan of water economics anticipates a construction of about 31 basins that should allow to store water in a quantity amounting to approximately 21 mld m3. The article deals with the results of engineering-geological works made for water engineering purposes in the Carpathian region, and presents the conclusions resulting from author's long-time experience.
