Abstract


THE RESULTS OBTAINED IN BORE HOLE TOMASZÓW LUBELSKI IG 1

Summary
The bore hole Tomaszów Lubelski IG 1 located in the south-eastern area of the Lublin basin has pierced both Devonian and probably Lower Carboniferous? (Tournaisian?) deposits overlain with the Jurassic formations. The deposits are developed in a lithofacies characteristic of the epicontinental conditions. Lower Devonian (3000-2615 m), developed in an Old Red facies, is represented here by quartzitic, mudstone-arenaceous deposits. Middle Devonian (2615-2400 m), in turn, consists of clayey and mudstone deposits intercalated by dolomites with amphipores and anhydrite intergrowths. Upper Devonian (2400-1340 m) is bunt up by dolomites at the bottom (304 m) and, higher up, by brachiopod-coral limestones revealing nodular texture. These are covered with dolomites (1341-1313 m) referred to the Lower Tournaisian; they can, however, correspond to the uppermost Devonian, as well. Mesozoic cover consists of Jurassic and Cretaceous deposits. Here, the Middle Jurassic deposits have been encountered for the first time (1313-1293 m). These deposits are covered with the Oxfordian, probably also with the Kimmeridgian ones (1293-1913 m). Cretaceous formations are represented by the deposits ranging in age from Middle Albian to Upper Maestrichtian. The deposits of the Upper Maestrichtian occur at the surface.
