Abstract

POSSIBILITY OF DISCOVERING NEW NEPHRITE DEPOSITS IN THE VICINITY OF SOBÓTKA, LOWER SILESIA Summary It results from the previous data concerning nephrite occurrences in the vicinity of Sobótka, Lower Silesia, that this mineral can be found at several places, within an area that stretches along a 20 km long belt, from Głogów near Świdnica, to Nasławice and Jordanów. It results from the paper published by W. Heflik (1967) that nephrite found at Jordanów occurs within serpentinites, accompanied by veins of light rock that consists of albite or oligoclase, frequently with various amounts of such minerals as diopside, zoisite, clinozoisite, grossular, vesuvian, prehnite, pumpellyite, hydrogrossular, tremolite, actinolite, clinochlore, desmine, a.o. Similar rocks have been encountered also in the serpentinite series found-near Nasławice (about 1 km north of Jordanów). In this connection, the author is of the opinion that new nephrite deposits can be found in the vicinity of Nasławice, as well.
