Abstract

A REPRESENTATIVE OF ARCHAEOGASTROPODA FROM THE ŁYSA GÓRA MASSIF

Summary
In the Łysa Góra Massif (Świętokrzyskie Mountains - Middle Poland), a cast of mollusc of Archaeogastropoda Thiele, family Helcionellidae Wenz, has been discovered. The specimen under consideration resembles that of Helcionella lata (Cobbold) from the Lower Cambrian of France, and that of H. atdabanica Missarzhevsky sp. nov. from the Lower Cambrian of Siberia. However, the dimensions of the mollusc encountered are considerable as compared with those of the specimens mentioned before, i.e. 75.0 mm - height and 88.0 mm - length of aperture. The author proposes to give a name for this specimen: Helcionella polonica sp. nov. The original cast is now in the Geological Documentation Archives of the Geological Institute in Warsaw, registered under. No 1114/II.
