Abstract

MODERN APPLICATION OF ACOUSTICS IN GEOPHYSICS AND MINING (PART II)

Summary
This report, provided with the introduction which explains the present significance of the problem considered, deals with the theory of propagation of elastic waves in porous rock formations, with various temperatures and various degree of liquid saturation. The theory has been supported by the results of experimental investigations. The second part, based on the theory presented, concerns the most important modern ways of practical application of acoustic waves for the investigations of rock formations, particularly for the acoustic well logging and acoustic investigations of the rock formations bored in the vicinity of mining shifts. Moreover, the progress in practical application of these new methods in Poland is discussed, too.
