Abstract

NEW DATA ON THE OCCURRENCE OF OPHIUROIDS AND OTHER ECHINODERMS AT NASIŁÓW, NEAR PUŁAWY Summary Numerous fragments of ophiuroids and asteroids have recently been found when examining rich collections of the upper Cretaceous fauna in the Museum of the Earth of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw. The fauna comes from the Creataceous-Tertiary transition deposits, from a local horizon "z" (Pożaryski, 1938; Pożaryska, 1965) at Nasiłów, near Puławy. So far, only echinoids and crinoids have been encountered in this area. Ophiuroids and asteroids of Cretaceous age have so far not been reported to occur in Poland. In the deposits occurring at Nasiłów, the ophiuroids are represented by Ophiura? hagenowi Rasm., Ophiomusium subcylindricum (Hag.), Ophiomusium danicum Niels., and Asteronyx ornatus Rasm. The asteroids are less frequently found than the ophiuroids, and are represented by the genera: Astropecten Gray, Chomataster Spencer and Teichaster Spencer. Beside the species belonging to the genera Bour gueticrinus d'Orb. And Pentacrinus Blum known to occur in the area under consideration, there are found among crinoids also representatives of Comatulida.
