Abstract

ON GENESIS OF MINERALS IN SEPTARIAN NODULES AND POSSIBILITIES OF THEIR USE AS INDEX IN SEARCH FOR ORE DEPOSITS

Summary
Explanation of the genesis of the mineral formations that fill in the contraction fissures in septarian nodules is not only of theoretical importance, but may also be useful in elucidation of numerous practical problems. Such a circumstance has forced the present author to begin once more the research on this problem and to continue the discussion with the Polish scientists. As concerns secondary mineralization in nodules, the rich specialistic literature does not explain such important problems as for example the age of mineral substance that fills in the contraction fissures, the sources of material, as well as the action of infilling. In his article the author does not try to make any detailed literature review and to explain the problem definitively. Based on his own investigations of mineral formations in carbonate concretions found to occur in the coal-bearing deposits of the Donets Basin in the Soviet Union, and in the coal basins of Kladno and Ostrava in Czechoslovakia, Lower and Upper Silesia in Poland, as well as in the basins of Scotland and Northern England, the author presents several conceptions that may contribute to the explanation. of the problems here considered.
