ROLE OF HEAVY MINERALS IN GEOLOGY AND PALAEOGEOGRAPHY
Summary
Significance is presented of heavy mineral analysis for geological investigations, particularly for stratigraphic studies of transportation directions, for palaeogeographic problems and for ore prospections. Development of •studies on heavy minerals using isotope and electron-diffraction methods is described, too. The results of the new research of heavy minerals are discussed in view of their transportation and accumulation. Moreover, new possibilities are presented as concerns the analysis of heavy minerals in the studies on Quaternary deposits.
