Abstract
VARIEGATED ROCKS IN THE MINES JASTRZĘBIE AND MOSZCZENICA
Summary
Intrusions of lava and of altered variegated rocks of volcanic origin have been found during mine workings carried on in the mines Jastrzębie and Moszczenica. At the contact with lava, the coal seams underwent strong metamorphic alteration, and in the zones of the altered rocks they disappear. These formations have been found to occur within the Siodłowe and Rudzkie Beds. It seems that volcanic activity in this region took place at least up to the sedimentation of the lowermost Orzeskie Beds, and was related to the tectonic processes that led, among others, to the uplifting of the Orłowski fold.
